Frequently Asked Questions

Can I snowmobile in Glacier National Park?

No, snowmobiles are not allowed within the boundaries of Glacier National Park. This trip will take place north of Whitefish about 45 miles from the park.

Is snowmobiling beginner friendly?
Snowmobiling is a fun and exciting way for the whole family to enjoy the outdoors. If this is your first time on a snowmobile we strongly encourage booking a guided experience rather than a rental. An experienced and knowledgeable local guide will make sure to show you the best spots while keeping you safe.
What kind of snowmobiles do you have?

A variety of snowmobiles are available based on your preference and skill level. We recommend beginners and most riders choose the standard double-rider 550 trail sled. These easy-to-ride sleds are best suited for groomed terrain and designated trails. If you prefer a higher performance or like to spend time in ungroomed terrain, we offer both 650 and 850 mountain sleds. Please contact Glacier Tourbase directly to inquire about additional sleds.

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear warm layers or ski gear. However, full gear rentals are available and we offer EVERYTHING you could need. Helmets are included in all rentals.

Can we go off the groomed trails?

If you are interested in exploring ungroomed terrain please contact Glacier Tourbase directly to inquire.

Are children allowed?

Yes, children of all ages are welcome so long as you feel safe and confident with their abilities

Where is the meeting point?

The meeting location is in Olney, about 25 minutes north of Whitefish and easily accessible from the main highway. Your confirmation email will provide further meeting instructions.

How long does the snowmobile season last?

Snowmobile tours and rentals begin in early to mid-December and last until early April.

Is lunch included?

Lunch is not included, but you may choose to purchase lunch on-site before leaving for your trip. You will have the option of either a hot or cold lunch consisting of the following:

Hot Lunch - Burger, hot dog, or chili with side salad and chips
