Buffalo Rapids Whitewater Rafting - Half-Day
Description
Take on the legendary Buffalo Rapids on Montana's lower Flathead River with the only outfitter permitted to run this stretch of water. This half-day whitewater trip departs from Polson, at the south end of Flathead Lake, and delivers Class II-III rapids, clear mountain-fed water, and a true wilderness canyon experience — no roads, houses, or train tracks in sight.
Your professional guide will brief you on safety and technique before you shove off. The lower Flathead River is dam-controlled, so flows stay consistent and hazard-free all season, and the water is the clearest and warmest whitewater in Montana — no wetsuit required. Along the way, keep an eye out for eagles and osprey nesting along the canyon walls.
Guided rafting has been running trips on the lower Flathead since 1978 and is Tribal-member-owned, operating under a permit from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes — the only company allowed to access this section of river and the south end of Flathead Lake.
