Description
Cycle your way through stunning mountain scenery in Glacier National Park along the Camas Road from Apgar Village. Ride through rolling hills and follow an easy-to-ride paved route that winds through forest, open meadows, and fire-impacted landscapes on the way to the North Fork of the Flathead River.
After a shuttle from Whitefish or Columbia Falls, the tour begins at Apgar Village near the West Glacier Entrance to Glacier National Park. Your knowledgeable guide will outfit you with e-bikes, assist with helmet fitting, and lead a brief orientation. You'll then set out on Camas Road, a paved and less-trafficked route that offers early-season access when other park roads may still be closed.
Covering 25 miles, this ride offers spectacular views throughout the season for those looking to enjoy an alternate e-bike adventure while Going-to-the-Sun Road is open to vehicle traffic. While the route is a popular biking destination in the early-season, additional restrictions and increased traffic make bike trips in the summer a bit more challenging.
The Camas Road offers a gradual incline, moving through a mix of open meadows and quiet forest. The pace remains steady with the support of pedal-assist e-bikes. Wildlife activity is common along this corridor, and your guide will pause at points of interest and scenic overlooks to enjoy the scenery and provide an interpretive overview before continuing your journey.
As you continue onward, the road continues through fire-scarred landscapes where new growth has emerged along the hillsides. Near the end of teh route you'll reach a bridge crossing the North Fork of the Flathead River—this marks the turnaround point and a stop for a picnic-style lunch. Riders dismount and eat near the riverbank taking in the sweeping views of the North Fork Valley before preparing for the return leg.
The ride back traces the same route, with mild descents and long, quiet stretches that allow for uninterrupted cycling. Riders arrive back at Apgar Village in the early afternoon, where the tour concludes with equipment collection and optional shuttle return to Whitefish or other nearby locations.
This tour is an excellent way to explore West Glacier with an e-bike, supported guidance, and a unique opportunity to cycle a lesser-known Glacier National Park route from spring through the fall.
