Description
Learning to ride an eFoil on Flathead Lake is an adventure from start to finish — part training session, part adrenaline rush, and entirely unforgettable. You’ll begin your experience at our base in Polson Bay, or at your own lakefront property if you’ve arranged a mobile lesson. After a friendly welcome, we’ll start with a full safety briefing and hands-on introduction to your gear. Our certified instructors explain the remote control, balance techniques, and how to safely lift the board out of the water.
Once you’re suited up, we’ll move into shallow water to practice throttle control and steady starts. Using the Blowfish assist system, beginners get extra stability while learning to balance and glide. With patient coaching and clear step-by-step instruction, most riders experience their first lift within a single session — the exciting moment when the board rises and you’re flying smoothly above the surface.
As your confidence builds, we’ll venture across wider sections of the lake and work on turning, steady flight, and speed control. Your instructor stays close by, giving real-time feedback and ensuring every ride feels safe and comfortable. Between runs, take in the incredible scenery of Flathead Lake, framed by mountain peaks and crystal-clear water.
Every lesson includes an edited video of your experience, professionally captured and delivered after your session. It’s the perfect way to relive your first flight and share it with friends and family.
By the end of your session, you’ll return to shore with new skills, incredible footage, and the feeling of having truly flown over Montana’s most beautiful lake. Whether it’s your first lesson or your next challenge, our goal is safety, confidence, and pure fun on the water.
What's Included
Frequently Asked Questions
How do efoil lessons work?
Lessons will be conducted with 1 or 2 eFoils, depending on the booking. All lessons begin with a dry land session. This includes a video, safety briefing and basic technique training. Once all riders have passed the dry land portion of the lesson, the instructor will accompany each rider in the water with the student riding one board and the instructor riding a separate board. Using communication headsets, the students will be guided through basic riding and bailing techniques.
Where is the meeting point?
Lessons begin at Riverside Recreation's central Polson location. Additionally, we are mobile, and if your lakefront location is viable, we can come to you.
Do I need prior experience?
Nope! Our expert instructors will guide you through each step, ensuring a fun and safe learning process. We see many first timers quickly grasp the concept and movement and are flying right away! Having previous experience with balancing on boards (i.e. skiing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, skateboarding, rollerskating, etc) is helpful, but not required.
Do you do lessons at other lakes/locations?
You bet! If you'd prefer going out on Whitefish Lake or another nearby lake in the Flathead we can come to you for an additional fee.
What happens if the weather is unfavorable?
Safety is our priority. If there is just rain or cooler weather the lesson continues. We're getting wet either way! If there is an electrical storm, high winds or other unsafe conditions, we'll work with you to reschedule your lesson at no additional cost.
