Frequently Asked Questions

Can we do wade fishing instead?

If you're picturing something similar to "A River Runs Through It" the truth is that wade fishing just isn't the best way to fish this river. Wade fishing is usually best suited for smaller rivers and streams and the better fishing spots are difficult to access on foot. Local guides are experts at spotting fishing while on the water but if you still wish to consider wade fishing, please contact Glacier Tourbase directly.

What is "driftboat" style fly fishing?

Popular throughout all of Montana driftboat-style fly fishing takes place in a hard-sided driftboat, perfectly crafted for floating the rivers of Montana. Each boat holds 1 guide and up to 2 guests and is comfortable enough with plenty of room to safely fish while standing.

Which part of the Flathead River will we fish?

This half-day fly fishing trip takes place along the main stem of the Flathead River and is NOT located in Glacier National Park. Most trips will begin in Columbia Falls and float downriver to the take-out in Kalispell.

What equipment is included on a guided trip?

You'll be provided with all the necessary equipment including rods and flies.

What kind of fish can we expect to catch?

The Flathead River and surrounding waters are home to species such as west slope cutthroat trout, bull trout, with opportunities to catch rainbow trout as well.

Can I bring my own gear?

Absolutely, you are more than welcome to bring your own gear or try out any of the quality gear available from your guide.
