Description

The ultimate whitewater adventure in West Glacier Montana. This is our most popular rafting option for a reason. Enjoy this ~3-hour experience charged with family-friendly class II-III rapids with more smiles per mile than you can imagine!

What Is The Trip Like?

After getting a safety briefing from highly trained guides you'll set out on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River, which makes up the southern boundary of Glacier National Park. Enjoy mellow waters and beautiful sights of the mountains of Glacier on the first hour of the float before the canyon narrows and the fun picks up. Paddle your 6-10 person raft through a series of pool and drop rapids that bring plenty of excitement, yet mellow enough the whole family can enjoy.

You'll have opportunities to jump off the raft and swim or cool off. The trip ends in the heart of West Glacier where you can enjoy some treats before heading off to your next Glacier adventure.

Looking For More?

If a half day of whitewater isn't enough, checkout our Full-Day Whitewater trip to get more scenery and more time on the river. You'll start further upstream and enjoy a delicious lunch on the river before hitting the rapids and ending in West Glacier.

If you want the river, but not the rapids you can relax on a scenic float of the Middle Fork as well.

If you're one of our fishy guests you can enjoy a privately guided fly fising trip on the border of Glacier National Park as well!

Frequently Asked Questions

What should we bring on the rafting trip?
We recommend you bring a towel and change of clothes to leave in your car. On the trip itself you'll want to have river sandals or water shoes, sun protection and warm clothes if it is a cooler day (i.e. a rain shell and hat). Otherwise, dress like you may end up in the river!
Which river will we be rafting on?
The whitewater float is on the Middle Fork of the Flatehad River, one of Montana's Wild and Scenic rivers. We'll run 8 miles of river through the John F. Stevens Canyon with 9 class II and III rapids.
Is this where they filmed "A River Runs Through It"?
While we hate to beat your guide to this fun fact.... yes, yes it is. Indeed the ora of Kevin Bacon and Meryl Streep still echoes through the canyons and bubbles up in the seams of the river.
How long does the half day whitewater float actually last?
This trip lasts between 2.5 and 3.5 hours depending on the time of year and conditions. In early season (May and early June) the water is running high and trips move quicker with less paddling. In late season (mid-August and September) the water levels are lower and the float takes more time.
