Description

Ever wanted to try whitewater kayaking, but worried it may be too difficult? Looking for a Glacier kayak adventure even more thrilling than our standard whitewater rafting? Then get ready to take on the rapids of the Middle Fork in your own inflatable kayak.

Our kayaks are super quick, easy to maneuver, and stable enough to handle the nine class II and III rapids you'll encounter along the way. Being in an inflatable kayak or "ducky" allows you to feel the rush of excitement as you sit lower on the water can maneuver quickly. Our experienced guides will be with you every step of the way, giving you tips and tricks for an awesome time.

On this half day trip, we'll float down a nine-mile stretch of river with plenty of practice time to build your confidence before tackling the bigger rapids. While we recommend you have a bit of river experience, the most important thing is a can-do attitude and an ability to paddle the distance! Children age 13 and over can join in on the fun as long as they're accompanied by an adult.

Looking For More?

Check out our Full Day Raft and Lunch trip and enjoy six additional miles of fun on the river, complete with a Deli-style lunch to keep you fueled up. If you'd prefer just a mellow, scenic float, no judgment from the end! You'll still get the same beautiful views and stay a little dryer.

Note: Inflatable Kayak Trips are only offered during normal summery river flows when the water is a bit warmer, typically from July 1 to early September.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of gear do I need to bring on the whitewater kayak?
We provide a full wetsuit package and helmet on these trips. You need to wear sun protection and good footwear (i.e. river sandals or water shoes that will stay on if you swim) and a swimsuit and clothes that can get wet.
How long does the half day whitewater float actually last?
This trip lasts between 2.5 and 3.5 hours depending on the time of year and conditions. In early season (May and early June) the water is running high and trips move quicker with less paddling. In late season (mid-August and September) the water levels are lower and the float takes more time.
Which river will we be rafting on?
The whitewater float is on the Middle Fork of the Flatehad River, one of Montana's Wild and Scenic rivers. We'll run 8 miles of river through the John F. Stevens Canyon with 9 class II and III rapids.
