Description

Explore one of Glacier National Park's hidden gems with an educational day hike to the Two Medicine Valley, located near East Glacier Park. Knowledgeable guides take an educational approach to each trip, perfect for active families or those looking to make the most of their time in Glacier National Park. Journey through the glacially carved valley filled with dense forests, sweeping meadows, and outstanding mountain views.

Beginning from Columbia Falls, travel beyond West Glacier as you make your way to the community of East Glacier Park, just outside the Two Medicine entrance to Glacier National Park. Along the way, you'll follow the scenic Middle Fork of the Flathead River with the peaks of Glacier in the distance before arriving in East Glacier Park. As you drive through town, learn about the historic Glacier Park Lodge and nearby railroad that shaped the early years of the park.

Once you reach the trailhead within the Two Medicine Valley, your small group and guide will set out on a fulfilling Glacier National Park adventure. An impressive view of Sinopah Mountain sits at the head of Two Medicine Lake serving as a remarkable and iconic backdrop.

Traverse through dense forests of lodgepole pines and Douglas fir before crossing through the meadows and marshy areas of this picturesque valley. The terrain in this region is perfect for moose sightings, so be sure to bring a good pair of binoculars! The journey continues passed glacially-formed lakes, towering mountains, waterfalls, and meandering creeks. If you have a particular interest in geology, the valley is one of the best to learn about the unique rock formations commonly found on the east of Glacier National Park, adding a great mix of variety to hikes on the west side.

Covering a maximum distance of 7-8 miles, with an elevation change of 500 feet, the trail is perfect for anyone looking to spend a day in the park without working up too much of a sweat. The Two Medicine Valley is truly a hidden gem that's more than worth seeing and considered by many to be a local favorite. Whether you're interested in seeing the best of what Glacier National Park has to offer or prefer to dodge the crowds, the Two Medicine Valley Day Hike makes for the perfect addition to any trip.
